Eligibility Criteria

How Do You Qualify?

To qualify for ECO4, you need to meet the following criteria

Your home should be energy efficient
You or someone living in your home should be receiving one of the following qualifying benefits

  • Child Benefit
  • Child Tax Credit
  • Housing Benefit
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Pension Credit Guarantee Credit
  • Pension Credit Savings Credit
  • Universal Credit
  • Working Tax Credit

There are alternative ways to qualify for the same home upgrades under ECO Flex. To be eligible for ECO Flex, your home must have a poor EPC rating, and the joint income of the household should be below £31,000. There are also other routes to qualification.

ECO4 Properties may be eligible if they meet the following criteria

Have a low Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D, E, F, or G
Have a low annual income of less than £31,000 gross
Have someone in the household who receives a means-tested benefit
Have a health condition or be of an age that puts them at greater risk of living in a cold home
Be a core group customer from scheme year 12 onwards under the Warm Home Discount Scheme
GBIS
Homeowners, landlords, or tenants may be eligible if they meet the following criteria:
Own their home
Have an EPC rating of D or lower
Have a council tax band between A and E with an EPC rating of D or lower
Have an EPC rating of D or lower, and either they or someone they live with is in receipt of one of the listed benefits
Live in a property that requires energy efficiency upgrades and have a combined gross annual household income under £31,000
Have a person in their household with a severe or long-term health condition that is adversely affected by living in a cold home
